Jim Potter joined Oak Ridge Financial in 2003. He has been in the investment business for over 20 years. Jim has a strong background in dealing with financially distressed and special situation investments, having served as Chairman of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of MEI Diversified, a member of the Official Creditors Committee of Mcorp, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of Kaiser Steel Corporation during its bankruptcy. In addition, Jim served as the Trust Administrator of the MEI Diversified Liquidating Estates. In this capacity, he was responsible for the liquidation of the assets of the bankruptcy estate (including real estate, marketable securities, furniture and fixtures) administration of claims by creditors against the estate and pursuit of preferential payments made by MEI Diversified prior to its bankruptcy filing. Jim has also provided business valuations, fairness opinions and expert witness testimony in bankruptcy cases.
Jim currently serves as a director of Wisconsin Bank Services, Inc., a privately held bank holding company. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of NeoVision, a privately held development stage medical device company and Hubbard Milling Company, a $250 million revenue privately held animal feed company. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude from Luther College in Decorah Iowa.
